Urban Living & Live-Work Convenience in the Burquitlam Hub
VUE is a major new residential and mixed-use community developed by Amacon in West Coquitlam (Foster Avenue & Whiting Way), designed to serve as a vibrant, transit-linked hub near the Burquitlam SkyTrain station. It encompasses a 44-storey concrete tower offering a wide range of 1- to 4-bedroom homes, a boutique collection of townhomes, and a row of two-storey live-work loft-style units with street-entry storefronts.
The ground level includes a public plaza and retail space, aiming to create an active, pedestrian-oriented streetscape, while upper levels deliver urban living, views, and a variety of unit types to meet diverse resident needs.
The Scope
For VUE, Sky Windows was engaged to deliver the complete glazing and exterior-glass package. This includes exterior curtain walls, interior storefronts, aluminum doors, vents and louvers, and glass canopies. The challenge for such a large, mixed-use, high-rise development is to supply glazing systems that meet structural, weather-resistance, and performance demands, while achieving a clean modern aesthetic compatible with the tower’s concrete construction. In addition, the glazing had to accommodate not only residential units, but also ground-level retail, live-work lofts, and public-plaza spaces, requiring flexibility across unit types and maintaining design cohesion from ground floor through upper levels.
The Outcome
With VUE under construction and slated for completion in 2025, the project will deliver 296 residential units across a tower, townhomes, and live-work lofts, complemented by retail space and a landscaped public plaza, contributing to urban densification and walkable community living in Coquitlam. The glazing work performed by Sky Windows ensures a high-performance building envelope and quality finish, supporting durability, aesthetic integrity, and long-term performance across the diverse residential and mixed-use components of VUE.
