High-Capacity, Eco-Friendly Car Wash Hub on Lougheed Highway
Located at 1035 Lougheed Highway in Coquitlam, British Columbia, this facility brings a modern, high-throughput express auto-wash to a major traffic corridor near the Trans-Canada Highway and directly across from Canada’s largest IKEA, placing it at a strategic intersection of daily commuters, retail foot-traffic, and regional connectivity. The design centers around a 160-foot “Exterior Detail Tunnel” (EDT) capable of washing, waxing, sealing, and drying vehicles with water-recycling technology, part of a trend toward environmentally conscious, convenience-focused services.
The Scope
For this project, Sky Windows provided the complete commercial glazing package: all-aluminum exterior curtain walls and doors for the building shell, office, and stair entries, plus a full spider-glass wall system (with black silicone joints) enclosing the car-wash tunnel. The glazing needed to meet rigorous requirements, resisting moisture, chemical exposure, and temperature variation inherent to a high-volume wash operation, while delivering a clean, modern architectural aesthetic and ensuring safety and durability for both customers and facility operations.
The Outcome
Construction was completed with occupancy and business permits issued in March 2024, and the facility opened shortly thereafter. The result is a fully operational, high-capacity car-wash facility capable of handling up to 158 car washes per hour, offering eco-friendly water recycling and modern convenience to vehicle owners in Coquitlam and across the region. The glazing systems by Sky Windows contribute to a durable, visually appealing building envelope that supports daily heavy use and enhances facility longevity.
