The Scope
The glazing contractor responsibilities for The Standard, awarded to Sky Windows, include exterior curtain walls, aluminum louvers, glass canopy, and aluminum doors with hardware. The project presented the challenge of delivering a high-performance building envelope that supports a tall, mixed-use residential tower (condos + rentals + townhomes) while ensuring durability, weather resistance, and architectural elegance compatible with Burnaby’s coastal climate. The integration of curtain walls, louvers, and glazed entry features helps achieve a cohesive modern façade, efficient envelope performance, and a high level of finish quality, contributing to both the building’s aesthetic presence and functional resilience.
The Outcome
Once completed, The Standard will deliver 424 market condominium units, 92 non-market rental apartments, and 15 townhome units, establishing a substantial addition to Burnaby’s housing supply and offering a mix of home types to suit different needs.
