Elevated Living and Retail in Coquitlam’s Austin Heights

Perched atop a hill in the Austin Heights neighbourhood of Coquitlam, The Heights on Austin – East Tower rises 25 storeys to deliver a blend of residential, office, and retail space. Residents enjoy panoramic views of the Fraser River and Coast Mountains from every level. With a location at 1033 Austin Avenue, the development is part of a broader revitalization of the area, offering convenient access to amenities, retail, and transit while combining modern high-rise living with neighbourhood character.

The Scope

The glazing and exterior-glass scope assigned to Sky Windows covered a comprehensive package: custom extruded large projection sunshades (with a woodgrain finish), full-height spider-glass canopies wrapping the building, stick-built curtain walls for the Level 1 and 2 podiums, commercial-grade aluminum doors for retail units, and glass doors for residential lobby entries. This work required careful integration with the tower’s architectural vision, combining a contemporary aesthetic with durable, high-performance envelope components, while accommodating mixed-use demands (residential, retail, offices) and ensuring durability and longevity in a coastal climate.

The Outcome

The East Tower portion of The Heights on Austin was completed in July 2024. The glazing and facade systems delivered by Sky Windows contributed to a high-quality building envelope that supports both visual appeal and functional performance. The result is a modern, mixed-use high-rise that provides residents with elevated living and views, retail and office amenities at podium levels, and a strong architectural presence in the Austin Heights community, aligning with the broader vision of urban revitalization in Coquitlam.
