Maplewood Fire and Rescue Centre
Sky Windows provided comprehensive glazing solutions for the Maplewood Fire and Rescue Centre, a high-performance civic facility designed to support emergency response services and reduce environmental impact in North Vancouver.

Project Intro
The Maplewood Fire and Rescue Centre is a 48,000-square-foot facility featuring four double bay fire halls, administrative spaces, and a state-of-the-art indoor training area. Designed for sustainability and community service, the project targets a 71% reduction in energy use and a 92% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to previous buildings on the site. Sky Windows contributed a wide-ranging glazing package to meet the project’s performance, safety, and design requirements—including decorative art glass installations in collaboration with Indigenous artist Olivia George of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation.

The Scope
Sky Windows supplied and installed the exterior aluminum curtain wall frames, including areas featuring decorative Indigenous art glass above the firehall bay doors. The scope also included glazed firehall bays, aluminum doors complete with hardware, and aluminum sunshades integrated into the curtain wall system. Additional work included fire-rated glass installations, louvers, and specialty laminated glazing to support safety and daylighting across multiple functional zones.
The Outcome
Now complete, the Maplewood Fire and Rescue Centre reflects Sky Windows’ ability to deliver high-performance glazing solutions for civic infrastructure. The team supported the centre’s energy and safety targets while helping express cultural significance through custom glass features—creating a modern, mission-ready facility for the District of North Vancouver.
