Project Intro
The Cascades is a mixed-use rental development with a strong community focus. The project includes affordable and supportive housing in partnership with the YWCA, a proposed childcare centre, and generous public realm enhancements—with 20% below market units, no residential displacement, and public realm improvements that entail 40% of the site going back to the neighbourhood as accessible, family-friendly community space. Sky Windows was engaged to provide glazing systems that align with the project’s design, performance, and accessibility goals.
The Scope
Sky Windows’ scope includes both exterior and interior curtain wall systems, aluminum doors with hardware, louvers, and fire-rated glass installations throughout the development. These elements support the project’s high-performance building envelope and interior glazing needs, while contributing to the facility’s safety and functionality.
The Outcome
Still in progress, the project demonstrates Sky Windows’ capacity to deliver integrated glazing systems on purpose-built rental developments. The work supports the project's broader vision of accessible housing and community-first design, while maintaining consistent glazing performance across architectural and functional zones.
