BC Transit Central Fraser Valley Maintenance & Operations Facility

The Central Fraser Valley Maintenance & Operations Facility is a purpose-built, high-capacity depot located at 3032 Gladys Avenue in Abbotsford, British Columbia. It serves as the operations and maintenance hub for the Central Fraser Valley Transit System. The facility accommodates bus parking, maintenance bays, fueling infrastructure, wash-bay services, and administrative offices — supporting the region’s growing public transit needs. The project reflects regional commitments to modernizing transit infrastructure and preparing for fleet expansion, including compressed natural gas (CNG) buses to support cleaner, more sustainable transit services.

The Scope

For this project, Sky Windows was contracted to provide all major glazing and glasswork components including exterior curtain walls, interior storefronts and aluminum doors. The glazing scope had to meet both functional and aesthetic demands: exterior curtain walls helped define the building envelope of a large industrial/commercial facility, while storefronts and entrance systems provided durable, secure access points for administrative and support areas. The project required robust, weather-resistant glazing suitable for a heavy-use transit operations facility, ensuring durability, safety and compliance with design standards.

The Outcome

The facility was completed in December 2020. The result is a fully operational maintenance and operations centre with capacity for 89 buses (with room for future expansion), seven maintenance bays, administrative offices, a bus wash, and a CNG fueling station — supporting cleaner bus fleets and enhancing regional transit service. The glazing work by Sky Windows contributed to the building’s durable, functional envelope, supporting efficient operations and long-term resilience.
